CAHOOTS (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets) provided mobile crisis intervention in Eugene, OR, immediately stabilizing cases of urgent medical need or psychological crisis, assessment, information, referral, advocacy, and in some cases, transportation to the next step in treatment. CAHOOTS was dispatched through 911 calls similarly to other emergency services.  Despite the crucial role CAHOOTS has played in Eugene since 1989, and it's role as a national model for mobile crisis response services, CAHOOTS' work in Eugene was defunded and ceased abruptly on April 7, 2025.

Dr Claire Herbert worked with Dr Rori Rohlfs and [some former] CAHOOTS crisis workers to organize a CAHOOTS Town Hall on April 10, 2025.  At the event, researchers shared their findings about CAHOOTS' impact, a [former] CAHOOTS crisis worker explained CAHOOTS model and why it's been effective, and the panel of speakers answered questions from the community.
